Vicksburg, MSHeartland Poker Tour (HPT) continues to push the boundaries of the Heartland by adding a tour stop at Ameristar Casino in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  HPT’s first visit to Mississippi is expected to draw hundreds of participants from across the country.  The series will kick off with a deep stack tournament on March 14th and conclude with a nationally-televised Final Table in the Main Event on March 24th.

“We are excited about the incredible opportunity to host the Heartland Poker Tour at Ameristar Vicksburg,“ said George Stadler, Vice President and General Manager of Ameristar Casino Hotel Vicksburg. “It is an honor to have a nationally televised event for our guests, team members and the city of Vicksburg.”

Ameristar Casino Hotel Vicksburg is the largest dockside casino in central Mississippi with 70,000 square feet.   Over 1,500 slot machines and 27 table games make Ameristar Vicksburg a popular destination. The dining on property is also a draw; guests can expect some southern hospitality at eateries such as Bourbon’s BBQ & Steak, Heritage Buffet and Bella’s Bakery & Café.

Poker enthusiasts will play for life-changing money at Ameristar Casino with the top prize expected to be in the six figures. Players may buy directly into the Main Event for $1650 or advance from one of many affordable satellite opportunities.  At a recent stop at River City Casino & Hotel in St Louis, Jose Ivan Montes of Bronx, N.Y. turned a $60 satellite entry into $57,456 in third place.

The southern expansion follows HPT’s successful move west in 2013.  Since humble beginnings in 2005, HPT’s reach continues to extend into new markets.  In 2013, HPT added a series of successful events in California and returned to familiar markets such as Michigan, Iowa, and Oklahoma.  The tour had a record season drawing unprecedented fields, surpassing $50 million in prize money awarded to date, and expanding TV distribution to four continents.

HPT televises more poker tournaments in the world than any other tour.  Fifteen cameras will capture all of the action when the final nine players advance to a full production set erected at Ameristar Casino.  Two one-hour episodes will be filmed and syndicated to more than 100 million homes throughout the United States, in addition to widespread distribution throughout Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.
