It only took around 24 hours for state senator Lou Correa's Senate Bill 678 to legalize online poker in California to be shelved once again.

This was an amended bill introduced this week that would have granted licensing exclusively to card clubs and American Indian tribes that already offer gambling in the state.

The ‘Authorisation and Regulation of Internet Poker and Consumer Protection Act of 2013’ had to be shelved as the state legislature's session will be ending for the year this month.

Correa has been trying for the past couple of years to get online poker legalized in California with previous attempts met with stiff resistance from the powerful Tribal casino operators.
