Canadian player Andrew Pantling won a massive pot against Norwegian Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden in the last few moments of Day 4 to take the lead in the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final. He has 2,248,000 and Lodden is down to 1,352,000. Pantling, 30, from Ontario, won the €5k heads-up tourney here at the Grand Final three years ago, and was third in the 2009 Irish Open.
There are 16 players left in the event including (still) a big number of Team PokerStars Pros: Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Victor Ramdin and Jake Cody are all still in contention for the €1,224,000 first prize. Also through to Day 5 are EPT London runners-up Steve O'Dwyer and John Juanda plus Andrew Lichtenberger, Freddy Deeb and Noah Schwartz.
There were 531 players from 55 countries at this season's €10,600 Grand Final Main Event creating a €5,310,000 prize pool. As well as their cash prize, the winner of this season's Main Event will receive a stunning watch worth more than €5,000 from luxury Swiss brand Slyde, the Official Watch Sponsor for EPT9 Main Events. The top 80 places are being paid.
The festival is running from May 6-15 and features 50 events including the €100k Super High Roller, €25k High Roller and first ever €500,000 guaranteed €1,000 Monaco Cup.
