Bryan Zuriff, an Executive Producer for the upcoming Showtime drama “Ray Donovan” has denied any wrongdoing in connection to an FBI probe of high stake poker games and sports betting with ties to the Russian Mafia.

The 43-year-old was named in an indictment unveiled by the US Justice Department Tuesday.  Zuriff faces charges of running an illegal gambling business and unlawful Internet gambling.

A former executive with Mark Gordon Co., home of “Ray Donovan,” Zuriff has served as an exec producer on pilot scripts for NBC and Starz, and his credits also include features  “The Details” and “The Messenger”, according to Variety

Zuriff’s attorney, Matthew Sloan, issued a statement saying “the charges against Bryan Zuriff that were made yesterday came as a complete surprise to him. He denies any wrongdoing and looks forward to his day in court to confront the government’s allegations.”

Zuriff also insists he is “not a fugitive” as claimed in an FBI press release.

The charges against Zuriff carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

One of New York’s most prestigious art dealers, Helly Nahmad, is also named in the indictment.  His gallery, located in the Carlyle Hotel, was raided by federal authorities on Tuesday.
