Black smoke rose after Day One of the Papal Conclave indicating there has yet to be a selection for next Pope.

Odds still had Italy Archbishop Angelo Scola as the slight favorite at 11/4 odds but Cardinal Odilo Scherer of Brazil was now breathing down his back with 7/2 odds while Ghana Cardinal Peter Turkson was coming in at 11/2.  These prices were available at Ireland’s largest bookmaker Paddy Power.

“It doesn’t get a whole lot tighter than this,” noted Payton O’Brien, Head of the Gambling911.com website.  “This is essentially a tight heat.”

Patience may be needed as well with Paddy making Longer Than 4 Days of a Papal Conclave the odds-on favorite at 10/11.  White smoke on Wednesday would pay out 2/1 odds.
