Creative Cause Kentucky Derby Odds

Sportsbook had Creative Cause listed with 12/1 odds of winning the 2012 Kentucky Derby just hours before the big race early Saturday morning.  This was one of the better prices offered on Creative Cause overnight with some online racebooks offering odds that were half that.

Creative Cause does have some good things going for him coming into this year’s big race.

First off, he has one of the better post positions at number 8.

Second, He has had seven prep races, winning, placing or showing in all seven.

Thirdly, there were two races he performed well in, the Norfolk and Santa Anita.  Both are similar to that of the Kentucky Derby.  He won the Norfolk and lost the Santa Anita by a nose.

There are some drawbacks, such as lack of maturity.  And despite those decent appearances in the prep races, he only won a single race over that time.

Creative Cause is trained by Mike Harrington and will be ridden by Joel Rosario.

Creative Cause has trained well on Churchill's dirt track since arriving from Los Angeles.

Below were the overnight odds on the 2012 Kentucky Derby from Sportsbook.
