Bodemeister odds to win the 2012 Kentucky Derby were coming in at between 4/1 and 5/1 at BetOnline.com.  These odds are subject to change so be sure to check their website regularly here.  Remember, you can get up to $900 in FREE CASH and 7 percent track rebates (for qualified accounts).

Bodemeister was the second shortest favorite a week before the Derby after Union Rags, however, chances are he could be installed as the odds-on favorite once Derby Day arrives.

Bodemeister’s favorite status comes as a result of winning the all-important Arkansas Derby and placing 2nd at the San-Felipe G-2 one month previous.

Bob Balfert is the trainer and, at the time of publication, we were yet to know which post position Bodemeister would be assigned.

James Skully of ESPN.com:

Bodemeister was unraced at two and must overcome 130 years of Derby history to prove best, but he is extremely fast (century-topping BRIS Speed ratings in his last three outings) and the son of Empire Maker is bred to excel at classic distances. His pre-race behavior is a potential drawback -- he was dripping wet prior to a runner-up in his stakes debut two starts back -- and an extremely fast pace will do him no favors, but Bodemeister is the type that you can't leave out of your multi-race wagers because he is too good. A lack of seasoning is the only viable concern.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
