Poker phenom Phil Ivey has just won the 2012 Aussie Millions $250,000 Super High Roller event after getting knocked out of the Main event early morning Sunday.  That turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  The take home prize - A$2,000,000.

“I got pretty deep in the Main, I got close, luckily I got knocked out in time to play this. It worked out,” said Ivey following his win. “It’s nice to be playing poker again. I took some time off, just came back to Macau, started playing and this is one of my first tournaments back so it’s nice to get back to winning.”

Ivey managed to defeat another big name pro, Finland’s own Patrik Antonius, who cashed out at A$1,200,000.  Ironically, both men had their reputations dragged through the mud to some degree during this past year’s Full Tilt Poker debacle.   As the faces of Full Tilt, both Ivey and Antonius have had to answer to players as to whatever became of the millions of dollars yet to be paid out.  Both Ivey and Antonius claim to be owed money from the company as well.

The poker world for its part is thrilled to have Ivey back on the scene.  Affectionately known as “The Tiger Woods of Poker”, Ivey has mostly remained out of sight since Full Tilt Poker abruptly shut its doors to the US market last April then subsequently closed down completely over the summer.

Also cashing out of the 2012 Aussie Millions $250,000 Super High Roller was Danish pro Gus Hansen.  He walked away with A$800,000
