Alabama Stakes 2011 Odds

The Alabama Stakes odds are up with Its Tricky and Plum Pretty the favorites, but watch out for St. John's River

The Alabama Stakes 2011 odds have been posted as the leading fillies will meet this Saturday at 5:45 pm EST (NBC).

The complete list, in order of post position, is as follows with odds subject to change so Gambling911.com advises its readers to lock them in now: Royal Delta, Jose Lezcano, 6-1; Pinch Pie, John Velazquez, 15-1; Plum Pretty, Martin Garcia, 2-1; It's Tricky, Eddie Castro, 9-5; St. John's River, Robby Albarado, 5-1 and Inglorious, Luis Contreras, 6-1.

TwinSpires.com is Gambling911.com’s newest ad partner and will be carrying the race live online should you happen to be away from a television.  They also feature the best stats available.  Just a quick note, TwinSpires.com is legally licensed to operate in the United States.  They are owned by Churchill Downs.  The site is currently giving away up to $100 FREE CASH on initial deposits.  It's like owning your own OTB.

The field includes six sophomore fillies running 1 ¼ miles in the $500,000 race at Saratoga.  It’s Tricky comes in as the favorite. The bay daughter of Mineshaft is five-for-six in her young career, and proved her mettle at both two turns and this oval in her latest venture. She will be tough just off the early pace.

Kentucky Oaks queen Plum Pretty also comes into this race with short odds of 2/1.

Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up St. John's River broke through with a graded win in the Delaware Oaks (G2) most recently and has been first or second in every start since her debut.

Then there is St. John’s River, who could provide the upset Saturday.

Andrew Leggio Jr., the trainer of St. John’s River (5-1 odds), told the Daily Racing Form:  “Since she’s been here she is so relaxed.  I guess she likes the weather and the atmosphere here.

“Every race she’s always coming at you,” said Leggio, who six years ago won the Grade 1 Ballerina with Happy Ticket, his only other Saratoga starter. “You got to think she’d go a mile and a quarter just by how she’s been running. But that doesn’t say she can go a mile and a quarter, we realize that. I hope she can; if she can we’ll be tough.”
