Canada Second Largest Representation at 2011 World Series of Poker

Canada was well-represented at the 2011 World Series of Poker with the second biggest representation. Organizers confirmed Canada’s ranking after the USA. The 2010 World Series of Poker defending champion Jonathan Duhamel comes from Canada. He found himself eliminated Monday evening.

While Americans continue to have all types of aggravation trying to play poker online, Canadians continue to play with little problem.

Some of the more best known Canada poker players include Daniel Negreanu, who recently moved back to Toronto from Las Vegas after PokerStars was forced to leave the US market after April 15. Evelyn Ng, Matthew Jarvis, Sorel Mizzi, Gavin Smith and Kara Scott are other big name players from Canada.

6865 players registered at this year’s World Series of Poker main event, making it the third biggest ever.

German poker player Pius Heinz has won the World Series of Poker main event.

The 22-year-old walks away with $8.72 million in cash along with the WSOP bracelet.

"Honestly I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the money," Heinz said early Wednesday after winning the main event in a marathon session of Texas Hold 'em. "Probably my family is going to get a couple gifts."
