William Hill Wimbledon Bet Biggest Ever

The United Kingdom’s largest bookmaker is reporting the largest bet it has ever taken on a tennis tournament, in this case the 2011 Wimbledon.

The wager was placed utilizing one of William Hills many shops located throughout England.

A gentleman walked in and placed £140,000 at 1/2 that Nadal will beat Andy Murray in their semi-final and £51,000 on Maria Sharapova winning the Ladies title at 5/4.

Should Nadal win he will collect £210,000 and the Sharapova wager will trigger a £114,750 payout, a total of £321,750!

"The manager of our shop is still in shock, we have never had a single individual place such a massive amount on Wimbledon in a single day. We now want Murray to win his semi final, but lose the final as a Murray victory will spark a million plus payout!" said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

William Hill is taking bets on Wimbledon throughout the tournament from players around the world online (*US players excluded at this time)
