The Tampa Bay Rays on Friday announced that stars Manny Ramirez and Johnny Damon will be joining the team, thus helping to improve the Rays odds of winning a 2011 World Series.

Currently, those odds were at 30/1 at BetED.com.

Other clubs were widely pursuing the two players prior to Friday’s announcement. Damon agreed to a one-year deal that would pay out $5.25 million plus incentives while Ramirez agreed to a one year contract for $2 million.

Damon, 37, hit .271 laast season with a .756 OPS in 549 at-bats for the Detroit Tigers. Ramirez, 38, hit nine home runs with a .298 average and .870 OPS in 265 at-bats for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox.
