Before the MLB season started, a Brewers/Rays World Series was a 700/1 long shot at BetOnline Sports & Casino.
And with good reason: neither team has ever won a World Series.
That will change this year. Once a champion is crowned, the loser of this matchup will join the Padres, Rockies, and Mariners as the only remaining MLB franchises without a title. Among them, the Mariners remain in isolation as the only franchise to have never even made it to the World Series.
Three things come to mind regarding this Fall Classic:
- The television ratings will be abysmal.
- Old-school baseball fans will hate the heavy analytics.
- New-school baseball fans will absolutely love them.
Still, you have to respect the hell out of both franchises. They consistently win on lower payrolls by drafting brilliantly and trading well. They also dominate the margins, pairing excellent patience at the plate with elite fielding, aggressive baserunning, and ridiculously deep bullpens.
World Series
Tampa Bay Rays +155
Milwaukee Brewers -175
Note: Odds imply a 63.6% probability of the Brewers winning their first World Series
Average US Viewership for the World Series (according to Nielsen)
Over/Under 8.5 million
Note: The lowest number (9.1 million) was in 2023 where the Rangers beat the Diamondbacks.
Note: The last time the Brewers were in the World Series (1982), the number was 38.1 million.
