Online Poker Traffic Falls Despite Bad Weather

Traffic to online poker sites fell a whopping 2.3 percent heading into the holiday weekend despite significant weather impairments across Europe and a good portion of the United States.

Nine of the top 10 sites and networks saw a week-over-week drop in traffic, according to the traffic monitoring website PokerScout.com

The decline was to be expected as players took time away from their computers for the Christmas holiday. This year's slump was not as severe as last year's, when Full Tilt Poker was coming off a very popular Holiday Hundred promotion and was seeing its player counts shrink back to normal.

Still, inclement weather typically keeps people indoors and acts as a motivating factor to get them to play online poker at times.

In addition to iPoker overtaking Party, Cereus Network climbed one notch for the second week in a row, taking seventh place from PeoplesNetwork.it. Entraction Network edged out IPN to take 11th place.
