6 individuals have been sued as a man from Florida is seeking to recover “illegal poker gambling losses”.
From Poker News Daily:
Scott Crespo filed the lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois one week ago and cited why he’s able to sue under state law: “If within six months, such person [who] is entitled to initiate action to recover his losses does not in fact pursue his remedy, any person may initiate a civil action against the winner.” Crespo alleges that the six defendants used “real estate or property for the purposes of gambling” in the form of the PokerHaus, located in Champaign.
All 6 online poker players live in Nebraska.
Among those being sued is the runner up to the PokerStars 2010 Caribbean Adventure, Tyler “puffinmypurp” Reiman.
Crespo alleges that another individual, Seth, Faraz “The-Toilet” Jaka, is owner of PokerHaus and uses the establishment in order that he may “actively recruited other individuals to participate in illegal gambling activity” and “committed acts of collusion and cheating while playing online poker.”
Crespo also outlines some 700 tournament cashes on various online poker sites to support his case.
He is seeking triple the amount of damages. – Ace King, Gambling911.com reporting.
