Reports surfaced this week that Joran van der Sloot, the Dutchman being held for murder in Lima, Peru, had been approached by another inmate offering him sale of drugs.
Van der Sloot is the prime suspect in the murder of Stephany Flores, a young college student he met while attending the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) in Peru this past spring. He is currently awaiting trial in the country’s notorious Castro Castro prison.
A video shows the conversation between a shirtless van der Sloot and an unidentified male prisoner.
Man: "I have marihuana, are you buying? Oe, Oe, Oe gringo! Gringo Van der Sloot!"
Joran: "Can you sell it to me for five soles?"
Man: "You want five more? and five fakes? and you give me one more? one more?"
Van der Sloot’s attorney, Maximo Altez,told In Session that the videotaped discussion was “staged” and, in regard to his client being shirtless.
"Joran got permission to paint his cell, we asked and where granted permission. Painting is part of his rehabilitation. He was painting and the guards where talking to him. He took off his shirt so that he wouldn't paint his clothes. He is painting and the guards are talking to him. I took him the paint myself.
