Most people woke up this Sunday morning February 2 with seven million notifications and texts about Luka Doncic being traded for Anthony Davis.
Trades like this don’t happen very often. We see superstars traded, but rarely for each other.
And not superstars of this magnitude. No player is untradeable as Wilt, Kareem, Oscar Robertson, Shaq, Charles Barkley and countless other Top 50 players of all time have been traded.
But again, for each other? All-Stars being traded for each other that come to mind are Shawn Kemp for Vin Baker and Paul Westphal for Dennis Johnson.
But we’ve never seen anything of this magnitude.
So what does this trade do for the odds at BetOnline.ag?
The Lakers title odds went from 25/1 to 10/1 (fourth overall) while the Mavericks went from 20/1 to 28/1.
In terms of conference odds, the Lakers went from 14/1 to 6/1 (second overall) and the Mavericks went from 9/1 to 14/1.
Additionally, this trade makes LeBron sticking around for another year or two more likely and the oddsmakers have set odds on that as well.
