NASHVILLE, Tenn (Gambling911.com) - It's not official yet, but it might was well be. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and the Nashville International Airport announced in a joint statement on Friday their intentions to change the name of the airport in honor of the late Dolly Parton.
Prediction markets are giving this a 96% chance of happening.
The name chance would serve as a lasting tribute to the legendary country music star, businesswoman and philanthropist. The airport is currently known as BNA. Those letters come from Berry Field Nashville.
“Dolly Parton’s extraordinary life is forever woven into the fabric of our state,” said Gov. Lee. “From her rural mountain home in East Tennessee to global stages, Dolly carried the Volunteer Spirit with her. At a place where Tennessee welcomes the world, it is fitting that Nashville International Airport would bear the name of our state’s favorite daughter and greet travelers with the enduring legacy of Dolly’s music, generosity, faith, and kindness."
