What the Line on Texas Tech vs. Iowa State Should Be

The Adjusted Efficiency for both teams arrives at a number of 4.17 with the Cyclones having the advantage.  We then multiply that number by the addition of both teams Adjusted Tempo Possessions Per 40 Minutes, which totals 137.5.  We arrive at a number of 573.4, which is then divided by 200.   This gives us a line of 2.9 (Iowa State -3).  However, home court advantage is typically tacked on at 3.50.  With the game being played at Iowa State, we arrive at a number of Cyclones -6.5.

The home court advantage can be adjusted based on a team's edge at home and the opponent's weakness on the road.  Tinkering with this number will usually result in a change no greater than a point.

Also it is important to understand that the Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings do not take into account any injuries or variables that might otherwise impact a game, at least not immediately. Tamin Lipsey will be suited up for Iowa State.

Though Texas Tech has dominated the Cyclones in recent games (8-2), the Red Raiders lost their last two games at Iowa State.

The Cylones defense suffocated Cincinnati their last game, winning 68-59.

Curtis Jones and Tamin Lipsey each scored 15 points to lead the team. Keshon Gilbert and Robert Jones also finished in double figures, scoring 12 apiece.

The Red Raiders Darrion Williams scored 30 points on perfect shooting as Texas Tech beat No. 6 Kansas 79-50 on Tuesday.  That number represented a career high for Williams.

“Give him credit because (of) his work habits and his belief in this team. ... I do believe the game rewards those people that play it to win,” Red Raiders coach Grant McCasland said. “What an awesome combination he was tonight of scoring and facilitating and rebounding and just winning.”

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
