Running a Bookie Biz in Illinois Still Possible Even With Regulation

CHICAGO, IL (Gambling911.com) - The best part about being an Illinois bookie is the restrictions placed on regulated sites.  They can't take bets on in-state schools online for example.  The local bookie can.  In this sense, DraftKings and FanDuel act as a gateway to the industry as a whole.  Eventually players first introduced through these sites find themselves betting limited while desiring more gambling opportunities (the online casino, political bets, entertainment, Super Bowl novelty props).  Read More Here

Northwestern Becomes Bowl Eligible

CHICAGO, IL (Gambling911.com) - A big game is on tap in Illinois Saturday as the Northwestern Wildcats takes on interstate rivals the Illinois Fighting Illini.

This is a meaningful game, more so perhaps for the Illini, as they must win to be bowl eligible and make back-to-back bowl appearances for the first time since 2010-11. Northwestern secured its first bowl berth in three seasons after beating Purdue 23-15 last week.

Illinois opened as a -5 point home favorite with the number moving up to -6 at some books.  Around 75% of the action was on Northwestern.

Illinois (5-6, 3-5) is coming off a 15-13 road loss at Iowa having surrendered a game-winning, 30-yard touchdown run with 4:43 remaining in the game.  The Fighting Illini have only covered the spread in three games this season.
