The Wood Memorial Stakes is run on 1⅛ miles (9 furlongs) on dirt at Aqueduct in Queens, New York. The purse is $1 million.

The race is open to three-year-olds with past winners enjoying great success in the Kentucky Derby.  In fact, eleven winners go on to capture victory in the Kentucky Derby, four of whom captured the Triple Crown.

The favorite by a whole point is Social Inclusion, and with good reason.  He is 2-for-2 having just set the Gulfstream Park record of 1:404/5 for 11/16 miles.

Owner Ron Sanchez turned down an offer of $8 million for 75 percent of Social Inclusion.

He’ll be drawing the outside post.
