Odds to Win the 2015 Preakness: Mr Z

Odds to win the 2015 Preakness Stakes had Mr Z at 35-1 with a payout potential of $350 for every $10 bet.

While few have paid much attention to the so-called “also rans” outside of favorite American Pharoah and contenders Dortmund and Firing Line, entrants like Mr Z deserve a look if for nothing else because the payouts could prove lucrative.

Coming into the Kentucky Derby, Mr Z had finished 3^rd or greater in five of his six races including a 3^rd place victory at the Arkansas Derby. He struggled at the Louisiana Derby, finishing in 9^th place.

Mr Z finished 13^th at this year’s Kentucky Derby and is now under new ownership. Ahmed Zayat, Mr. Z's original owner and for whom the horse is named, did not want to run him in the Preakness, saying he wanted to give Mr. Z a confidence-builder. He sold the horse to Brad Kelley's Calumet Farm this week.
