Alpha and Golden Ticket have both won the 2012 Travers Stakes in a riveting dead heat finish.  The irony here is that this was expected to be one of the most dullest Travers Stakes races in recent memory as all of the original favorites were either retired or sidelined by injury.

Alpha came into this race as the odds-on favorite Saturday while Golden Ticket was among the biggest long shots at 33-1.

It was the first dead heat in the 143 runnings of the Travers and a rare finish for any Group One race.
