At 4:40 pm local time, radar indicated steady rains approaching Baltimore scheduled to arrive approximately 6 pm race time.   All bets should be locked in here now as odds subject to change.

The future radar for 6 pm local time (shown here) indicated storms bearing down on the Pimlico race track.

A wet track could spell trouble for all but the favorite, who has relished the slop in the past.

Firing Line, meanwhile, has seen reduced odds to +375 for a payout potential of $37.50 on every $10 bet.  Dortmund had climbed back to +420.  The horses were going back and forth throughout the early hours today for the 2nd most favored Preakness contender.

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
