Frammento odds of winning the 2015 Kentucky Derby were coming in at 53-1.

The Nick Zito-trained horse is the first of two likely standbys to enter the race last minute.  El Kabeir was also a late scratch heading into Friday evening.

Frammento will move into Gate 20 and every horse from gates 12 to 20 will move down one gate, but will retain their saddle cloth number.

What this means, for the time being anyway, is that favorite American Pharoah will start from a post position (17) that has never won a Kentucky Derby.  He’ll likely start from the number 16 post position, however, should El Kabeir be scratched.  Five horses have won starting from that spot.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
