First Dude Belmont Stakes 2010 Odds

First Dude, named after former Alaska Governor and 2008 Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin's husband, Todd, is a near favorite to win Saturday's Belmont Stakes.  His odds were set at +350 or 3.5/1 for a payout potential of $35 on every $10 bet at BetUS.com.

First Dude's trainer is confident that he can win the Belmont Stakes.

"The Belmont will be this horse's race because he wants to go a mile and a half," Trainer Dale Romans said, "and he'll love the track."

Romans' confidence soared after his 3-year-old bay colt set the pace in the Preakness nearly three weeks ago, then managed to duel with Lookin At Lucky in the stretch before settling for second.

"You're not going to skip a classic with a horse like this," Romans said. "He's a throwback kind of horse, a big rugged kind of horse, nothing bothers him, and I don't think three weeks is going to bother him."

Presently, the horse to beat and instilled as the official favorite is Ice Box at +300.
