Cape Blanco, Gio Ponti Favorites to win Arlington Million

Cape Blanco and Gio Ponti were the favorites to win this upcoming weekend’s Arlington Million, a very popular horse race amongst bettors.  Cape Blanco was coming in with early odds of 2/1 and 3/1, respectively.  ALERT:  Those living outside the US could get Gio Ponti at 5/1 odds at 888.com at the time this was published Tuesday evening Eastern Standard Time. 

Cape Blanco drew the number 7 post on Tuesday.  He is the 2010 Irish Derby hero.

Gio Ponti finished second to the Irish-bred Cape Blancoin the Man o' War Grade I

The six-year-old Gio Ponti won the Million in 2009 and was runner-up last year.

It's tough to pass on the Million," Trainer Christoph Clement said, "we won and finished second the last two years."

Gio Ponti’s accomplishments cannot be underestimated.  He has earned nearly $5.5 million in 26 career starts with 11 wins and, in 2009, he finished second to Zenyatta in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
