Betting The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes 2011

As one might imagine early on, the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes betting odds for 2011 had Frankel as a pretty significant favorite at 1-3 odds

The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes is a Group One straight course event open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older covering a distance of 1 mile (1609 metres) held annually at the prestigious Ascot race course.

The event takes place during the inaugural and highly anticipated Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot on October 15.

Frankel is being heralded as the “best horse in the world” right now.

Rod Street, chief executive of the British Champions Series, said: "We couldn't have asked for better Qipco British Champions Day entries with the mouth-watering prospect of Frankel's last race of the season in the QEII in a rematch with Canford Cliffs, with the possibility of Goldikova and Dick Turpin as well, unquestionably topping the bill."

Sadly though, Canford Cliffs appearance in the race was not to be as his career has come to an abrupt end due to a leg injury suffered at the “Duel on the Downs”.  As a result, most oddsmakers had removed odds on the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes during the later part of August.

This was the rematch that everybody wanted to see.

Betting on this race was expected to be brisk the few weeks leading up to the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.  The race takes place just weeks before the Breeders Cup.
