Gambling911.com offers up five good reasons why American Pharoah will win the 2015 Belmont Stakes.

Reason Number 5: Owner is a VERY Religious Man – Ahmed Zayat has God on his side in more ways than one.

There has been much written about his Orthodox Jewish faith.  In 2007, however, Joe Drape of the New York Times wrote of Zayat that “He is a Muslim who grew up in a suburb of Cairo and had put much time and effort into bestowing the name Maimonides on his prize purchase.

In case you were wondering, Zayat translates into a public shed for worshippers.

So maybe next year he’ll be a Mormon.

Reason Number 4: Weak Competition – The horses with the next shortest odds are Frosted and Materiality, neither of which really appear all that intimidating.

Reason Number 3: Jockey Victor Espinoza is a Stud – He’s already ridden American Pharoah to two victories at the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, respectively.  Espinoza is a stud with the ladies as well it seems.  According to the New York Post, he is dating two women at once, both hotties.

Reason Number 2: A Triple Crown Victory is Due – As elusive as a Triple Crown victory might seem – as we haven’t had one in nearly 40 years – it’s easy to forget that there were three Triple Crowns during the 1970’s.

Reason Number 1: Just Too Good – He seems to be peaking at just the right time.  While the Kentucky Derby win was okay, that decisive victory in the mud at the Preakness Stakes made everyone a believer.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
