2014 Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational Stakes betting odds were available from Sportsbook.ag here.

This race is run on 1 ¼ miles of dirt at Belmont Racetrack and is open to three-year-olds and up.  It features a $1 million purse.

This is a pivotal prep race for the upcoming Breeders Cup as the winner of the Jockey Gold Cup automatically qualifies for the November 1 race.

There is really no odds-on favorite at this year’s Jockey Club Gold Cup but plenty of familiar names.

Wicked Strong comes in at 2/1 odds followed by three other contenders with half point differentials between them: Moreno, Tonalist and VE Day. The later horse is Wicked Strong’s stablemate.  He managed to stun Wicked Strong in the final seconds of the Travers Stakes.

"It was disheartening for Wicked Strong," said Jimmy Jerkens, the trainer of both colts. "I thought he was going to hold on, but the other horse switched his lead and surged in the last three jumps and really just surged forward and nailed him right on the wire. It really was the very last jump."

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
