NCAA Opens Investigation of Cincinnati over Brendan Sorsby’s Gambling

Wednesday July 8, 2026 (6:58 pm EDT)

Did Cincinnati have knowledge of Brendan Sorsby's gambling habit?  The NCAA is now investigating.  Via Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, the NCAA has sent “a letter of inquiry” to Cincinnati regarding Sorsby’s time with the program.  Per the report, Cincinnati officials expect to respond “soon” to the communication.  If Cincinnati knew or had reason to know that Sorsby had lost his eligibility by betting on Indiana football while on the Indiana football roster but allowed him to play for two seasons, that would be a problem.
