The attack on bookies is on the rise and only getting more violent.

The rise in betting shop staff in Great Britain being threatened is linked to heavy losses on fixed odds betting terminals - referred to as the "crack cocaine of gambling”, according to the Daily Record.  The fight over allowing these terminals to remain has been widely covered here at Gambling911.com.

Punters can lose £100 every 20 seconds on these machines according to experts.

Figures obtained from Police Scotland show there were 196 crimes recorded in bookmakers in 2015 – compared with 238 in 2010.  Of even greater concern, cases of threats or abuse rose from two to 49 over the same period.
