Top Trending: $23 Million Bet on Cowboys vs. Eagles at Kalshi Alone
Philadelphia begins its title defense by hosting Dallas in the NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday, Sept. 4, CBS Sports reports. The longtime division rivals will meet at Lincoln Financial Field with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET. Scroll down for all the latest gambling news and hot trending stories here at Gambling911.
Kalshi had seen $23 million bet on just this game alone. Just over $31 million had come in on this game after it commenced with live wagering available.
Compare that with Friday night's NFL game between the Chiefs and Chargers. That one has only attracted $1.4 million as of Thursday afternoon. We will see a flood of money come in on that game as we inch closer.
As for some Sunday games, Miami vs. Indianapolis has seen $613,184 in volume days in advance while the Giants-Commanders game had around $234,420 in volume. Cleveland at Cincinnati took in approximately $251,596.
Again, this is all taking place at the prediction market Kalshi, available in all U.S. states.
Now consider some states have more than a half dozen regulated sportsbooks as well as countless numbers of offshore sites and local bookies utilizing Pay Per Head platforms. The numbers just for Dallas vs. Philadelphia are going to be pretty Earth shattering. Did we mention that European and Latin American sites take in their fair share of NFL bets?

- Lawsuit from Ho-Chunk Nation Accuses Online Platform of Illegal Sports Betting in Wisconsin - The Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court last month, accusing Kalshi of breaking state, federal and tribal laws that regulate gambling. In Wisconsin, sports betting is mostly illegal, except at tribal casinos. Kalshi says that its platform does not amount to sports gambling although prediction markets are slowing moving into that space and have even considered offering parlay type gambling options.. In October 2024, Kalshi received approval to reintroduce election markets, allowing users to wager on political outcomes, such as congressional control and presidential elections. Ho-Chunk Nation President Jon Greendeer says that’s clearly false. “It’s very profitable for them to make this argument as long as they can, even though any court of competent jurisdiction is going to see right off the bat, as they have in the past, that this is clearly a gambling platform,” Greendeer said in an interview with WPR. “I don’t think there’s anyone that is confused about the operation that they’re doing.”
- Texas Sports Betting Faces Longer Odds as Lieutenant Governor Seeks Another Term - Dan Patrick has blocked gambling bills in recent sessions, insisting on majority GOP support. But the bigger obstacle may be the Senate itself. The Dallas Morning News recently reported it may be a mistake to view Patrick as the sole obstacle. “If I was the Sands Corporation, I’d be trying to count my Senate votes and quit worrying about Dan Patrick,” Austin-based consultant Mike Lavigne told the newspaper. “Patrick is not as big a problem as the rest of the Senate is. And if they had the votes in the Senate, Patrick wouldn’t be a problem.” (source: IGB)

- 28 Arrested as Part of Florida Gambling Probe - Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd held a news conference Thursday to discuss the arrests of almost 30 people in an undercover investigation of illegal gambling houses. “Operation Bad Odds” began with a tip about gambling machines at A-1 Discount Beverage and Discount & Deli on Pilaklakaha Avenue in Auburndale, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Undercover detectives who soon visited the stores reported finding the machines in the back rooms, the release states. They were also able to place bets. Detectives placed bets and won money - the winnings were given to them by the store clerks, and the money was handed over concealed in bankers’ bags. Twelve stores were identified as part of the extensive probe. Those arrested (all of whom have been identified) will face charges of keeping a gambling house, possessing a slot machine, and disposing of money by lottery, the sheriff’s office said, adding five of the suspects were in the U.S. illegally.
- Suspended Florida Sheriff Granted $1M Bond in Illegal Gambling Case - A judge granted suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez a $1 million bond following his arrest related to an illegal gambling operation. Lopez will also have to wear a GPS monitor, surrender his firearms and passport. His next court date is June 30. Lopez was charged with two felony charges after statewide prosecutors said he was involved in an illegal gambling enterprise since August 2019, while he was a deputy for the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. Nevada Court Denies Kalshi’s Motion to Stay Discovery - A Nevada federal magistrate has denied Kalshi’s request to stay discovery in its dispute with state regulators, ordering fact development to proceed. Defendants may look into whether “eliminating contracts in Nevada would risk and/or facilitate market manipulation and [whether] the Core principles Kalshi maintains would be violated should it attempt to comply with the cease-and-desist letter" while the order stipulates that discovery cannot be limited to the pending summary judgment issues.
