A recent analysis conducted by WalletHub shows that Utah is the least gambling addicted state.  It is also one of only two states (Hawaii being the other) that do not have a state lottery.

Utah also doesn’t have any casinos or horse tracks.  As a result, only 2.2 percent of Utah adults – or 43,218 citizens – are believed to be gambling addicts, according to a National Council on Problem Gambling 2013 study.

The state that has the most casinos and legalized sports betting, Nevada, ranked number one on the list.

Surprisingly, it is South Dakota that comes in second.

The WalletHub analysis grouped Utah among states with the fewest casinos per capita, fewest gaming machines per capita, lowest lottery sales per capita and the fewest gambling-related arrests per capita.

The NCPG claims there are approximately 5.77 million pathological gamblers requiring treatment annually.
