The Bundesliga ends on Saturday and the matchup between Union Berlin and Fortuna Dusseldorf is one of the matches left that can have an impact on the table. While Union are safe in the middle of the table, Dusseldorf needs a positive result to ensure they head to the playoff instead of straight relegation. They enter this match with a two point lead and a four-goal differential over Werder Bremen who host 14th place FC Koln on Saturday.

These teams met December 22 in the final game before the Christmas break and Dusseldorf won 2-1 at Merkur Spielarena. Rouwen Hennings scored for the hosts in the 38th minute and Michael Parensen tied the game in the early moments of the second half. Erik Thommy scored in the 90th minute to lift Die Flingeraner to all three points.

Union Berlin Betting Preview: Finish Strong

Located in the former East Berlin, Union has existed for 55 years but this is their first season in top-flight play and manager Urs Fischer has blended 14 new signings into the team this season. Union secured another season of Bundesliga play with consecutive wins June 13 and 16 before falling 4-0 at Hoffenheim the last time out. They will be looking to put that result behind them as they return home where they have seven wins and 24 points from 16 games this season.

Sebastian Andersson leads The Iron Ones on the season with 13 total goals, 12 in Bundesliga play, but he has just one goal in the eight games played since the restart. Christopher Trimmel leads the team with nine assists while Marius Butler has added seven goals. Rafal Gikiewicz has started 36 of 37 games this season in goal and has nine clean sheets to go with 14 wins and five draws.

Union have gotten a result in their last three games at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei. Scoring has been hard to come by for the Iron Ones though as they have more than one goal just once in any game since March 1.

Fortuna Dusseldorf Betting Picks by Gameadvisers

Dusseldorf earned another draw last Saturday at home against Augsburg as neither team scored after Hennings tied the game in the 25th minute. That result assured Augsburg’s survival and left Dusseldorf two points ahead of Werder Bremen in 16th place. As things stand they would face the 2. Bundesliga third place team in a home-and-home playoff to stay in the top-flight for 2020-21.

Die Flingeraner are led in scoring by their captain Hennings who has 19 goals, 16 in league play. No one else has more than six goals on the season while Kevin Stoger leads the team with five assists. American Zack Steffen was Fortuna’s goalie until an injury in December and he suffered a setback to his knee on April 27 with a training injury. In his place Florian Kastenmeier has allowed 32 goals in 19 games with two clean sheets.

Hennings has scored four of their last nine goals during the restart whiel they have allowed 14 goals. Dusseldorf has seven draws in their last 10 league games with the lone win coming against Schalke on May 27.

Union/Dusseldorf Betting Lines
Dusseldorf to win -107
Union to win +271
Draw +254
Over/Under 2.5 goals: Over -116, Under -114

Dusseldorf will be desperate to win and avoid having to scoreboard watch but they haven’t won away from home since February 22, a span of five games. Union were horrid last week after securing their place for next season and don’t have the kind of offense to just turn it on again.
