While going 12-1 Straight Up this season, gamblers were beat up badly early in the season by the Spartans, who managed to lose six in a row Against The Spread.  They ultimately concluded the season 5-7 ATS.

Alabama also went 12-1 on the season with a 7-6 record Against The Spread.

These two teams last met in 2011 with Alabama decimating Michigan State 49-7.  The Spartans have won all four of their bowl games since that time.

On the injury front, Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook said his sprained throwing shoulder is improving and will be close to 100 percent New Year's Eve.
