The second college football 12-Team playoff had some interesting results with the top overall seed Indiana beating the No. 10 seed Miami to win last season's CFP Championship.
Additionally, the 2,3 and 4 seeds never won a game.
The oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag have opened the odds to make the 2026 CFP for 81 teams.
Here are some notes from last year’s opening odds:
- Indiana opened up tied for 29th with the best odds to make the CFP. They had 25/4 odds (+625 with a 13.79% probability)
- Of the teams with the top 12 odds to make the playoffs, these teams missed the playoffs:
- Texas (2nd)
- Penn State (5th)
- Notre Dame (7th)
- Clemson (8th)
- LSU (9th)
- Boise State (11th)
- These teams made the playoffs last year despite not having top 12 odds
- Indiana 1st seed (see above)
- Texas Tech 4th seed (tied for 22nd best odds, 19/4, +475, 17.39%)
- Texas Tech 7th seed (15th best odds, 12/5, +240, 29.41%)
- Oklahoma 8th seed (25th best odds, 21/4, +525, 16%)
- Tulane 11th seed (tied for 35th best odds, 8/1, +800, 11.11%)
- James Madison 12th seed (tied for 41st best odds, 12/1, +1200, 7.69%)
