Raiders vs. Chiefs Odds

Raiders vs. Chiefs odds haven't moved at all since the 15th as Kansas City continues to hold at -3 at BetUS.com.  The line initially opened at -3 ½.  Almost 90 percent of the action on this game was going the Raiders way.

In this series over the last 10 games, the road team has won 7.  Kansas City, however, is 8-2 against the Oakland Raiders.

Kansas City has 46  Wins and 16  Losses  since 1992 against division opponents at home on the money line, which by the way is -160.  This is a somewhat important factor since Kansas City has won by less than 3 points twice in its 8 wins over Oakland during their last 10 meetings.

The Raiders are 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as a road underdog of 0.5-3.0.

The Chiefs are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games.

It should be noted that the Chiefs hung in with Baltimore, at one point even leading until the final minutes where - like Oakland - they collapsed...only much harder.

Matt Cassel missed the opener with a knee injury and backup Brodie Croyle played well in his absence against a fierce Ravens defense. Cassel's status for this Sunday remains up in the air, but even if he does not play, Croyle showed he is capable of filling in admirably and has good chemistry with emerging receiver Dwayne Bowe.

Defense is a major concern for the Chiefs. Kansas City had only one sack and gave up 198 rushing yards to the Ravens last week.

A bright spot for Oakland: the newly-acquired defensive end from New England, Richard Seymour, had six tackles and two sacks.

The Chiefs didn't fully resemble the team that went 2-14 in 2008 in Sunday's season opener at Baltimore. Playing against an opponent that reached the AFC championship game in January, Kansas City tied the score at 24 on Sean Ryan's 10-yard TD reception with 5:21 to play.

However, the Chiefs gave up two touchdowns in the final 2:06 and Todd Haley lost his NFL coaching debut, 38-24.

"It wasn't the result that we wanted but there are some things I look at coming out of Baltimore that make me feel like we're making progress," Haley said.

The Chiefs managed to stay close despite the injured Cassel sitting out.

Oakland, which lost 11 games a year ago, blew a pair of fourth-quarter leads Monday night against San Diego and the three-time defending AFC West champion Chargers scored with 18 seconds left to win 24-20.

"Let's face it. You feel good about playing that game the way we played it against that particular opponent," coach Tom Cable said. "That's all fine and dandy, but at the end of the day we didn't get it done at the end, and that's the next step. I think we really tasted it.

"Certainly going into this thing our expectations are high and they should be, but now we have to learn how to close out and win those close games."

Oakland's defense got a big boost from Richard Seymour, who didn't even go through a full practice with his new team. Seymour, acquired from New England last week, sacked Philip Rivers twice and helped the Raiders limit San Diego to 77 yards rushing.

The Raiders offense, meanwhile, gained 366 yards - their most since 2007 - but still needs better production from quarterback JaMarcus Russell.
