NFL Week 17 Free Picks

Sports Interaction betting analyst Carson Pike makes his free picks for Week 17 of the NFL.

The final week of the season is upon us. While the NFC playoff picture is set, other than seeding, it is going to be a wild finish for the AFC with five teams tied at 8-7 and battling for the final playoff positions.

On December 6, Denver travelled to Kansas City and handed the Chiefs a humiliating 44 - 13 loss. This week, Sports Interaction has opened the line at Denver -13.5 at Mile High. Normally, I would think that line is a little too big against a team that you just embarrassed so recently, especially in their barn. This week is different. Denver is in a must win situation if they want to have a realistic chance at making the playoffs. Denver is not playing their best football of the season entering the week on a three game losing streak, but the Chiefs are playing worse. Much worse. Broncos roll. Denver -13.5 at Sports Interaction is the first of my NFL Week 17 free picks.

Clearly, the game of the week is Philadelphia at Dallas (why the NFL did not flex this game is beyond me). The winner of this game wins the NFC East title and earns a first round bye. Both teams enter the week playing well with Dallas winning their last two games and Philadelphia winning their last six. This game is going to be a hard fought match between division rivals. Sports Interaction has listed the over/under at 47.5 and I think that is too high for this game. Division matches do not turn into shootouts very often; especially with so much on the line. I expect the defense to step up and both offenses will be playing a little conservatively, trying not to make mistakes. Under 47.5 points is the pick with Sports Interaction.

The final pick of the week is a conditional pick. The Cincinnati Bengals visit the New York Jets for their final game of the week. The NFL made this the Sunday night game and by kick off, the Bengals will know the result in the New England at Houston game. Sports Interaction has opened this game with a line of New York Jets -10. Should the Patriots win, expect Cincinnati to rest their players as they will have nothing to play for. The Jets on the other hand, are not only playing for a spot in the playoffs but they are playing in the final game in Giants Stadium. Making the playoffs is the main thing on the Jets' mind, but I am sure closing Giants Stadium with a win provides them with some extra motivation. If the Patriots win their game, Jets -10 is another of my Week 17 NFL free picks.

If New England loses, Cincinnati can still take the number three seed with a win over the Jets. While it will be a tough game to win outright as the Jets will be playing for everything, the Bengals will have a reason to play their starters and will at least keep it tight. Should New England lose their game, Cincinnati +10 is the pick at Sports Interaction.
