Michigan State vs. Michigan

After opening at Wolverines -5 at some online sportsbooks, the Michigan State vs. Michigan Week 6 College Football spread had dropped a half point to -4 ½ and we’ve already seen a few books moving to the -4 throughout the day Monday.  SBG Global was holding at Michigan -4 ½ coming into Tuesday

Michigan State was getting around 90 percent or more of the betting action when the spread was +5, hence the move downward.

Michigan comes into this game ranked 18 and 6-0. Denard Robinson became the first player in FBS history last week against Indiana to pass for 200 yards and rush for 200 yards in a game twice in their career in the regular season.

Michigan State comes into this game ranked 17 and also at 6-0.  They beat Wisconsin 34-24 last week. Kirk Cousins threw for 269 yards with three TDs as the Spartans moved to 5-0 for the first time since 1999.  The Spartans ran for 175 yards.

In this series, Michigan has won 6 of the last 8, but the Spartans have won the last two.  In two of their last three losses against Michigan, the Spartans have covered the current spread of +4 ½.

Some other important stats when looking at the Michigan State vs. Michigan game:

The Wolverines vs. conference opponents are just 3-14 in the past three seasons.  They are 2-11 after playing a conference game.  They are 1-8 in games played in October.

The Spartans are 2-7-1 Against The Spread in their last 10 games following a ATS win and are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games as an underdog.

The Wolverines are 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games as a favorite and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

Michigan is 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games as a home favorite of 3.5-10.0 and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.

In addition to betting on the spread, one might want to consider the total, which was slated to open at OVER/UNDER 64 Tuesday at SBG Global.  5 of 6 games in this series have gone OVER in the last two decades.  In road games, the OVER has gone 9-1 for Michigan State during the past three seasons and 8-1 when they are an underdog.
