Judge Michael Shipp has granted motions to allow all parties in a New Jersey sports betting suit until February 8 to respond to the federal paperwork filed a week earlier.

Both the plaintiffs and defendants, including four professional sports leagues and the NCAA, have asked the court if they could file a brief by Feb. 8 that responds to the U.S. Dept. of Justice’s brief that is due on Feb. 1.  The NFL, et al. are looking to block New Jersey’s efforts to legalize sports betting in the state.

On Tuesday, the US Justice Department was granted approval to intervene in the suit on behalf of the plaintiffs.

Oral arguments will be heard before Judge Shipp in Trenton on February 14.
