FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES (2-0) at BOSTON COLLEGE EAGLES (2-0)

No. 9 Florida State should be tested for the first time this season on Friday night when it opens up ACC play on the road against unbeaten Boston College.

The Seminoles had no trouble dismantling Texas State and South Florida to begin the 2015 season, prevailing by a total score of 93 to 30 in the two victories. The Eagles have also destroyed their first two opponents this year, beating FCS Maine 24-3 before holding FCS Howard to 11 total yards in a 76-0 shellacking last week. Florida State has won all five matchups in this series played this decade, but the streak was in serious jeopardy last year when the 16.5-point favorite 'Noles kicked a field goal with three seconds left to escape with a 20-17 victory. The cover gave Boston College a 6-4 ATS advantage in the 10 meetings since 2005, but the last two matchups in Chestnut Hill have both resulted in convincing FSU victories (38-7 in 2011 and 48-34 in 2013).

The Seminoles are 15-10 ATS (60%) after allowing 17 points or less in two straight games under Jimbo Fisher, while the Eagles are 15-3 ATS (83%) after gaining 7.25+ yards per play in their previous contest since 1992.

Several FSU players are listed as questionable for Friday's matchup, including WR Nyqwan Murray (hand), DE Chris Casher (knee), DB Marcus Lewis (knee) and three offensive linemen. For Boston College, LB Tim Joy (knee, questionable) is the only player listed on the injury report.

Florida State (1-1 ATS) has outgained its first two opponents this year by an average margin of 539 to 287. While the 'Noles have a strong 7.4 yards per play, opponents have managed only 4.3 yards per play. Notre Dame transfer QB Everett Golson has been outstanding in his first season with the 'Noles, as he's completed 65% of his throws for 465 yards (9.1 YPA), 5 TD and 0 INT. When Golson was with the Fighting Irish, he faced the Eagles once in 2010, finishing with a stellar 16-of-24 for 200 yards, 2 TD and 0 INT.

Five different FSU receivers already have touchdown catches this season, with junior WR Jesus Wilson leading the club with 107 yards and two scores. Sophomore WR Travis Rudolph has a team-high 10 receptions, resulting in 99 yards. But the real star of this offense has been 203-pound senior RB Dalvin Cook who has already rushed for 422 yards on 8.6 YPC with five touchdowns. This includes his monster 266-yard performance against South Florida last week. Although Boston College ranked second in the nation in rushing defense in 2014 (95 rushing YPG), and held opponents to 3.1 YPC, Cook produced a solid 76 yards on 14 carries (5.4 YPC) in the win over the Eagles last year.

Defensively, the 'Noles have held their inferior opponents to 287 total YPG this season. This includes a mere 146 passing YPG on 4.4 YPA, but the run defense hasn't been as good in giving up 140 rushing YPG on 4.1 YPC. Florida State has produced just two takeaways in the two contests, but its Friday opponent hasn't turned the ball over yet this season.

Boston College (1-1 ATS) has been steamrolling opponents this season with a rushing advantage of 551 to 14. Five different Eagles ball carriers have already topped 70 yards this season with junior RB Tyler Rouse leading the team with 117 yards and five touchdowns on just 14 carries (8.4 YPC).

Sophomore RB Jon Hilliman is the team's main ball carrier and he was very effective versus FSU last year with 73 yards on 13 carries (5.6 YPC). He'll be touching the football as much as any offensive player and if he can gain more than five yards per carry like last year, the Eagles have a great shot to win.

Friday will also mark the first real test for sophomore QB Darius Wade, who has thrown only 38 passes in his collegiate career. Boston College attempted just 11 passes (while rushing 51 times) in last year's loss to the Seminoles, but there should be a much better run-pass balance with this personnel.

Defensively, the Eagles have been impenetrable this year. In addition to allowing 14 yards on 48 carries, opposing quarterbacks have completed only 14-of-41 throws (34%) against them, with BC forcing as many turnovers (three) as points allowed this season.
