College Football Week 10

Carrie Stroup here with a look at College Football week 10 odds and betting trends.

I'm jumping to the 3:30 pm EST games since the early College Football games have already started.

Ohio State vs. Penn State is one of the most bet on games of the day at Sportsbook.com.  The action wasn't particularly lopsided though Penn State was getting closer to 65 percent of the public backing last I checked.  Most books, including Sportsbook.com, had this one at Penn State -5 ½ after opening at -3 ½.  I would be careful here in that the oddsmakers seem to be less optimistic about this favorite.  Penn State won last year but the two teams have split the series over the last four meetings.  The Buckeyes are 8-1 ATS following a Straight Up win.  They love grass.  They are 21-5 ATS playing on a grass surface.  The Buckeyes are 26-9 ATS in their last 35 conference games.  There are not a whole lot of noteworthy trends when it comes to Penn State.  The Nittany Lions were the 4th most bet on College Football teams on Saturday's slate even with just 65 percent of the backing.

The big game of the weekend, though it may not seem it, was Oregon vs. Stanford at 3:30 pm EST.  Oregon was getting nearly 90 percent of the action with a -7 road line at Sportsbook.com.  They were also getting copious backing on the -280 money line to win outright.   Recreational shops were pushing this line up a half point and the indications were that oddsmakers believed an Oregon win was imminent.  I'd tend to agree.  Looking at past meetings, Oregon has completely owned Stanford, and by more than the current spread.  They beat them at home by 7 points last year.  Past games were complete extirpations.

Another of the heavily wagered on teams in College Football Week 10 was Houston U getting 95 percent of the action on a -2 point road line.  The oddsmakers aren't exactly confident in Houston U winning and Me, personally, I'm tending towards Tulsa.

I don't need to tell you that both Oklahoma vs. Nebraska and LSU vs. Alabama are both drawing  appreciable wagering action.  LSU at +7 is getting around 60 percent of the public backing.  Oklahoma at -4 ½ is getting nearly 90 percent.   Oddmakers opinions are leaning towards an Alabama cover while Oklahoma/Nebraska is mixed.

Texas A&M, USC and Oklahoma State are all getting asymmetrical action.
