Week 1 of this seasonís NCAA Football was full of surprises, and it has given us a glimpse of all the excitement that is yet to come. There were some predicted winners and a fair share of surprising upsets, and for some winning left a bitter sweet taste in their mouths.

For starters letís take a look at #1 rank Alabama, to say they delivered in last weekís game against USC is an understatement, Bama didnít beat USC they crushed them 52-6, if this is how they will play the rest of the season I find it hard to believe they will be debunked from their No. 1 spot any time soon.

Some of the surprising upsets include LSU and Oklahoma. LSU Tigers lost against the Wisconsin Badgers over the weekend 14-16, the Badgers have proven that they have one of the most consistent teams in the Big10 and the Tigers Offense continues to decline, if they canít turn this boat around soon they may not be able to salvage the season.

The Oklahoma Sooners lost to the Houston Cougars 23-33, although Oklahoma still has a chance to turn the tables they will face Ohio State in week 3 a team that has a similar playing style to that of Houston and this could put them in a pickle. Houston on the hand have practically a clear path to the playoffs, they have certainly earned their place and its unlikely that they will play a ranked team in the coming weeks and maybe not until mid-November when they are scheduled to play against Louisville.

Texasí impressive win over Notre Dame was certainly a pleasant surprise for some including me, although it is too early in the season to really tell if Texas has turned the page, their renewed offense certainly gives its fans plenty of hope. Notre Dame is no push over the game required 2 over times, but in the end Texas won 50-47.

Now itís time to talk about those whoís win was bitter sweet, yes I am talking about Tennessee and their unimpressive win over Appalachian State. Tennessee trailed most of the game, it wasnít until the 4th quarter that they managed to tie the game and force it into overtime and then miraculously managed to win by recovering a fumble in the in zone.

Tennessee will have an opportunity to redeem itself this Saturday when they play the Virginia Tech Hokies in The Battle at Bristol. If they play as poorly as they did last weekend I doubt we will be seeing them in the post season.
