For a second straight year, oddsmakers believe that Ashley Cole will be voted the Most Hated Man in Great Britain, and after England's loss in the World Cup, odds have been slashed even further

WilliamHill.com, England's second biggest bookmaker, has made footballer Ashley Cole a 1/3 favorite to be voted Most Hated Man in Great Britain

The company claims to have been inundated with requests from punters offering the novelty bet on the nation's fallen idols.

‘First he laughs at £55,000 a week, then he cheats on a Cheryl Cole and now it has come to light that he sent a text to his mates saying that he hates England and English people. There can be little doubt that Ashley Cole is trying his best to scoop the award of most hated man in the country and I'd say they'll have a huge party in England when he emigrates!" said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny.

English fans were left gobsmacked this morning when they saw an unfortunate picture of Aaron Lennon puffing on a huge Cuban cigar with the rest of his teammates joking around a table littered with alcohol. The picture appeared on the front page of Britain's biggest newspaper - The Sun, and amazingly the picture was taken by his team mate Ledley King after their 4-1 hammering by Germany.

This has prompted William Hill to begin offering odds of 50-1 for Ledley King to win the award in the 'Britain Inspired' category at 2010 Digital Camera Photographer Of The Year Awards, and 66-1 for Aaron Lennon to become the official face of Hamlet cigars.
