Tunica Casino to Keep Paula Deen Buffet

Casinos have not been immune to the Paula Deen controversy.

A handful of casinos have been mulling over dropping the popular Paula Deen Buffet.

Officials at the Tunica, Mississippi Harrah’s have decided to keep the Buffet despite the controversy surrounding Deen’s controversial racial slurs from several years ago.

Deen addressed her comments Friday in separate video statements.

"I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong that I've done," she said in the video.

The Food Network announced it world not renew Paula Deen's contract at the end of June despite her public apology.

The Commission on Religion and Racism in Memphis is calling for a boycott of Deen’s brands including the Buffet with a protest planned Friday afternoon along Highway 61 near the Tunica casino’s entrances.

A spokesman for Caesar's Entertainment, which owns Harrah's Casino, sent this statement:

"Paula Deen has acknowledged using a racial slur in the past. As a company with a longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are deeply disturbed by what we are reading in the press and strongly object to any use of racial epithets. We will continue to monitor the situation."
