South Carolina Bookie Brett Parker Murder Case to Be Featured on ‘Dateline’

This Friday (July 26, 2013), ‘Dateline’ on NBC will feature a segment on South Carolina bookie Brett Parker entitled “Mystery at Ascot Estates”.

The show, which will air at 9 pm EST, features interviews with friends and associates of Parker’s wife, Tammy Jo Parker.  Brett is currently serving a life sentence for shooting to death Tammy Jo and a sports betting clerk, Bryan Capnerhurst.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s lead investigator is also interviewed by “Dateline”.

’60 Minutes’ to Offer Update on WSEX Story, Discuss Schillinger Suicide’s Thomas Somach has confirmed that the CBS news magazine “60 Minutes” will be airing an update on a story about online gambling that featured co-founders of the now defunct sports betting site World Sports Exchange

Somach tells "60 Minutes" will simply be mentioning the suicide, likely at the end of an upcoming program.  The exact date is not known.  The original story about and Schillinger from 12 years ago is not likely to be re-aired.

Chicago, previously known for the likes of Al Capone, Michael Jordan and Steve Bartman, is the latest locale for a reality TV show about a family-owned pawn shop.

First came the History Channel's "Pawn Stars," about day-to-day goings-on at a Las Vegas pawn shop.

The show was so successful--it's History's top-rated program--that rival network truTV ripped off the idea and created "Hardcore Pawn," about the daily antics at a Detroit pawn shop (it's truTv's top-rated show).

Yup, it looks like HBO's NFL-themed reality TV show "Hard Knocks," which premiered its seventh season last week, has become the latest form of sports media to jinx the athletes it embraces.

The Sports Illustrated cover jinx is well-known: for years, athletes who have appeared on the sports magazine's iconic cover have shortly thereafter encountered various degrees of bad luck, including arrests, trades and injuries.
