Rats Invade Great Britain

Giant rats are being reported throughout the United Kingdom, some as big as 2 feet long (and 5’7 inches tall if you count love rat Ashley Cole).

The London Sun is predicting that the UK could be overrun with rats if a new EU pest control proposal becomes law.  Gambling911.com places an all out rat infestation by year’s end at 2/1 odds.

The Sun first reported how the 30in creature, dubbed Ratzilla, was shot by "ratter" Brandon Goddard, 31, on pest-plagued Ravenscliffe estate in Bradford, West Yorks.  Following that report, hundreds of Great Britains wrote in to tell of their own horrifying encounters with giant vermin.

John Davison, head of the National Pest Technicians Association, told The Sun that the population could explode if the EU approves a new rule governing culling. It stipulates that one of the most effective rat poisons - used as "bait" - can only be placed in special metal or plastic containers.

Mr Davison said: "Experience has shown rats don't like these boxes and the effectiveness of the approach would be reduced.

"If control is less effective we could be overwhelmed. It could lead to numbers people won't believe."

….And while we are on the subject of giant rats…

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has said that Peter Crouch is his only fit striker for tomorrow's game against Stoke City.

He said: "We've ended up with so many injuries this week just from that one game.

"Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko are all out. Giovani dos Santos also picked up an injury.

"It leaves me with just Peter Crouch. Not a bad one to have, but we've only got Crouchy."

Spurs lost at home to Stoke last season but won at the Britannia Stadium where Niko Kranjcar scored the winner.
