If selected, Turkson would become the first ever Black Pope

Another Italian, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, was coming in with the next shortest odds at 4/1.

Canada’s Cardinal Mark Ouellet, once a favorite, has been diminished to 7/1 odds.

Cardinal Leonardo Sandri of Argentina had much shorter odds in recent weeks but was now listed at 16/1.  There had been talk of possibly seeing the first South or Central American Pope.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power just posted odds on U2 frontman and humanitarian Bono becoming the next Pope at 1000/1 odds.
