Moonlight Oscar Odds – 2017 Academy Awards

Moonlight is one of those films that could shock at this year’s Oscars though we are doubtful it will upset La La Land for Best Picture.  Moonlight has been nominated for a number of other 2017 Academy Awards categories.

Synopsis: A look at three defining chapters in the life of Chiron, a young black man growing up in Miami. His epic journey to manhood is guided by the kindness, support and love of the community that helps raise him.

AVAILABLE BETS FOR RECREATIONAL GAMBLERS

Best Picture – If you dare, Moonlight had the second shortest odds at 4-1 for a $40 payout on every $10 bet.  La La Land is an -1100 favorite.  There has never been a film favored at this high a price in the Best Film category that has failed to win.  Then again, there had never been a Super Bowl go into overtime until this year.  There is a time and place for everything and 2017 could be the year for such a thing to come to fruition.  Some food for thought.

Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) – Bet $69 to win $10 with Moonlight the favorite in this category.  The $69 is refunded and you receive a $10 profit.  In terms of Oscar favorites, this price is actually decent for both the casual and professional gamblers alike.

AVAILABLE BETS FOR PROFESSIONAL GAMBLERS

Best Supporting Actor – Mahershala Ali, Moonlight will most certainly win, but at a price of $125 to win $10, the risk/reward ratio is pretty steep.  Savvy pros with excess gambling funds can bet $250 for a quick $20 profit (not recommended for casual bettors).

Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) – Bet $69 to win $10 with Moonlight the favorite in this category.
